Leeds Vineyard

The Rocks

Vineyard House will serve many purposes. So as we think about the renovations, flexibility is a key word. Over the years ministries will start and flourish and some will struggle and stop. What goes on there in 10 years may well look different from what starts happening there in 2019.

Characteristically it will be Home, it will be Open, it will be Welcoming. A place where God is at work and, as emerged from the Engine Room: “A place of “Shalom” in Headingley. The pathway to Shalom will be different for individual people. A place where the full breadth and depth of the gospel is evident, can be experienced and received. A place of/for life change through Jesus.”

At weekly worship in April Tom Magill prayed this over Phil, our Project Manager, “In your workman hands is a lump of clay, you are fashioning a jug and oil is being poured into it.” We are fashioning a jug, something into which God can pour his oil of compassion and mercy and out of which we will pour into our local community and beyond.

The Rocks are the main things that will be started in the first couple of years and will be what guides the design and renovations.

Prayer Rock We will allocate some space to a permanent, 24/7 Prayer Room. (More)
Therefore I want men and women everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 1 Timothy 2:8
Sunday Rock HMC will remain the main place for weekly worship but Vineyard House will provide much needed space for T4:12 (young people) and Vineyard Kids, space for play and creativity as well as learning and ministry. (More)
Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. Psalm 8:2
Young
Rock
There is a huge opportunity to develop mid-week work amongst young people and children in this area, connecting with schools and other agencies to provide a place of refuge and fun and access to the gospel. (More)
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
Hungry Rock We will explore different ways to feed and clothe those who are hungry and struggling; providing services for those in debt or addiction troubles, for those with mental health needs; a base for family support services. (More)
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Matthew 25:35,36
Equipping Rock A lot of what goes on will be training and equipping people in ministry and in life, conference facilities.
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13
Community Rock Working hand in hand with other agencies we will provide space for the local community to use for fun and education and larger events.
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46,47
Business Rock We will establish some sort of business within Vineyard House which can generate an ongoing income to pay the bills.
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Proverbs 21:5
