Leeds Vineyard are partnering with Vineyard Churches UK&I to launch the new Vineyard Discipleship Year programme here in Leeds.
The VDY is for 18-25 year olds who are eager to grow their faith and deepen their relationship with God.
Why are we running the VDY at Leeds Vineyard?
At Leeds Vineyard our vision is to make, train and equip followers of Jesus to be effective in extending of God's Kingdom and to develop leaders which contribute to the blessing of the church. Our hope is that the VDY will be a fantastic environment for young people to grow in their relationship with God, understand their identity and calling, and learn to live out their faith in practical ways.
What does the Vineyard Discipleship Year at Leeds Vineyard look like?
VDY consists of half a day's teaching per week and another 1-1.5 days per week serving in the life of the church.
The VDY also includes a 3 day residential with the DTI, Cause To Live For and VCUKI training team.
Teaching
VDY consists of half a day's teaching per week. Teaching will be hosted at Vineyard House on Mondays, at 2pm-6pm. Specific term dates will be provided.
The teaching include pre-recorded content from speakers all across the Vineyard movement to equip you for a life of Kingdom living. Teaching on the VDY focuses on the questions “Who is God?” (Theology), “Who am I?” (Identity) and “How does God want me to live?” (Discipleship Practices).
You can watch the taster video to get a feel for the teaching.
Serving in the life of the church
Alongside the teaching content of the VDY, students will also take part in the life of the church. Students will be able to participate in a range of ministry areas at Leeds Vineyard, including at our Sunday Gathering.
This might include serving in: Vineyard Kids and Youth (DBS check required), Set Up and Operations, Media (Social, AV and Livestream), Welcome, Worship, Café.
VDY students will also be able to participate with our compassion ministries: The Vine Child Contact Centre, the Vineyard House Pantry, and the Lantern.
Each VDY students’ schedule will be arranged with the VDY Facilitator, Alex Harbour, on acceptance of a place. The schedule can be flexible around a students’ part-time work.
There are also opportunities to serve at Vineyard National events such as VLG, DTI and Cause to Live For as well as local events at Leeds Vineyard.
