footBeing an Inviting Christian

When the lost are found, it gives joy to God
  – joy beyond our ability to comprehend...
  Leighton Ford

At The Gathering in April, we realised that each time we think about being welcoming, we need to need to remember the step that goes before it – being inviting.

Mike Byde led a discussion where we thought about how we were first invited to join in with other followers of Jesus and how they welcomed us.

Nik Gee looked at Jesus' parable of the Great Banquet (Luke 14: 16-23) and how this reveals God's heart that anyone and everyone should be invited to come to know Him.

Sarah Byde gave us a practical way to focus our thoughts and actions on taking steps to invite our friends to know Jesus.
We each took a card with the verse from Romans 10:15 to remind us to pray for our friends and to prompt us to invite others to know Him and His good news

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can
they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they
 hear w
ithout someone preaching to them?
And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

Romans 10: 13-15

The Gathering is every third Sunday of the month, at the Vineyard Centre, 7.30pm.
All are welcome - come as you are!
