Leeds Vineyard

Worship

This is our starting point for worship, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength and with all your mind.” Luke 10:27.

Our vision for worship is that we are a community who love Jesus and worship Him with everything we are, in every moment. We daily seek His presence and intimacy, wherever we go.

Here’s what we would love to see happening across Leeds Vineyard:

Weekly worship
Sunday worship is an overflow of our hearts to God. It is a place for us to worship Jesus, honour Him, encounter Him, and be changed by Him. We expect an increase in our awareness of His presence, to learn more about the truth of who He is, and of who we are in Him. We will try to follow what the Holy Spirit is doing as we gather, even if that means changing things at the last minute, so we hold all our plans lightly. As God meets us in worship we expect Him to speak through prophetic words, pictures, healings and others signs of His Kingdom. We aim to be musically excellent, honouring Him in our gifts, yet knowing it is our hearts that He values most. With this in mind we will train up others in this area of ministry and release them to lead. (IRTDMN).

Housegroups
Housegroups are a safe place for people to come to worship Jesus and encounter Him. They are a place where people can worship not just musically, but creatively through many different ways. Those involved will be supported with lyrics, chords, creative ideas and resources and there will be workshops to develop skills in using guitars and keyboards in a small group setting. We would like to create a central system whereby people can share their own ideas and testimonies of their experience leading worship in housegroup, learning and discussing these things together.

Vineyard Kids
Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies.
(Psalm 8:2)                                                                                                                   |
Our kids are amazing! They are powerful worshippers that bring fun and freedom into everything they do. We want to provide fun, creative times of worship for them, where they can express themselves to God and encounter him, using songs they enjoy, and even some they have written themselves. We expect God to speak to them and show them His love through the worship, as well as learning about Him, and who we are in Him. We also expect they will be empowered and released to lead worship themselves.

T4:12
God is doing so much with our young people at the moment. They have a strong connection with contemporary culture and help us to express worship in a way that connects with others. We love to call out the gifts of leading worship among them, giving opportunities to lead in our regular events, larger worship events and possibly to create their own special events too. We train them musically to play in a band and support those who want to write their own songs.

Song Writing
'Sing to the Lord a new song' Psalm 96 v 1
Sometimes this is in a moment of improvisation, sometimes we will create a song we use more regularly. We'll use song writing workshops to help develop, craft and refine song ideas. We'll record songs so others can learn them, sometimes using Vineyard Records studios in Hull.

Creative
The concept of how we all worship together is broader than just music, so we want to provide opportunities to find ways to include other creative expressions. The Holy Spirit seems to be releasing this in people. So to explore this, we'll have times when artists and other creative people can have the chance to run things in different ways, with freedom of space and time to help people connect with God and worship him via alternative routes.

Reach Out – Building Bridges
Taking God's Presence wherever we go, using music to build bridges with those around us, so we can share His Love. There are many different ways we could do this - from individuals in their own musical groups, to open mic nights, through to creating a whole new band, or finding new places for Shift the band to play. We could develop a set which may include worship songs and book gigs and events in 'secular' venues and locations in Leeds and particularly Headingley. We also recognise the seasonal events that we do, like the Carol service or Easter events, as an opportunity to invite people to join in.

Events
Some elements of our wider vision will feed into this area, giving rise to our own events (e.g. Reach Out gigs or perhaps an open invitation event fronted by T4:12), as well as being able to support and contribute to other events we are invited to be involved with (e.g. leading worship at conferences both home and away). We would also see all events as opportunities for people to explore their gifts in worship and finding new ways to express our worship to God in a way which invites others to come to a deeper knowledge and understanding of Him and how we can live in relationship with
Him.

PA/AV
The PA and AV teams enable the gathered people to participate easily in worship. Skilled sound engineering is a musical talent and mixing is a worship activity done to the Lord. In the building we use, fast set-up, consistency and excellence are really important. Therefore we'll be investing in training the teams and upgrading some of the equipment (when funds permit). The wisdom and experience of the team members is a key factor in shaping those changes.

Colossians 3 v 17, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Or, as the Message translated it, “And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”
